Jigging on Wakashiomaru Jan 19th
My friend Wayne and I got out the rods for 2008 and went to target some smaller yellowtails. Sometimes you can do very well with many fishing getting caught. Of course if you're going fishing in January you are sure to have some pretty nasty, windy, wet weather.
Basically this boat goes from 6am to 11am sharp and the fee is only 6,000 yen. I like the price because the location is close and I can still do stuff with the family after. I think I will be using this service more and more…. For you you Tokyo boys we drive about 45 minutes to the boat and this is considered very far
At about 8:00 am I got one! I switched to a jig from Marine bait called the "Shaking Electric" in 150 grams. The flash or finish is simply amazing and it really does have that ELECTRIC feeling to it. I got the hit in about 80 meters of water with in initial hit at about 60 meters or so. So it was hanging quite close to the bottom probably feeding on small bait fish.
After that I switched on and off with Inchiku jigs with one large wopper lost. My rod was completely bent over for about 5 minutes straight. After feeling a POP I thought it was gone but upon retrieve we found a small rock fish hanging off the hook. I think what happened was a small fish got eaten by a large fish, then the big fish decided to let go. Too bad it was a nice fish I think

Got the fish home and my son got to experience his first viewing of a large fish. He was ohhh and ahhhhhhhing over it.
Later on at night Wayne and I had some yummy sashimi and pan fried (hot plate) yellowtail with salt/pepper and ponzu (vinegrated soy sauce) to our wife's delight.
Looking forward to going again and please enjoy the video I made.
Until next time folks,
Nigel
